Indianapolis Electronics Recycling at Perry Park Saturday, September 24, 2022

Indianapolis Electronics Recycling at Perry Park Saturday, September 24, 2022

The Indianapolis Office of Sustainability and local nonprofit RecycleForce will host an electronics recycling (“E-cycle”) event for Marion County community members on Saturday, September 24 at Perry Park (451 E Stop 11 Road) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Properly disposing of broken, outdated, and/or unused electronics is important because Indiana’s Electronic Waste Law prohibits households, small businesses, and schools from disposing of electronic waste in the trash.

On-site staff will direct traffic, and motorists should remain in their vehicles. Non-electronic materials will not be accepted at this event.

The City is again partnering with local nonprofit RecycleForce for the event. RecycleForce reduces crime through re-entry employment and job training opportunities while improving the environment through electronics recycling.

As a general rule of thumb, acceptable electronics include anything with a cord attached, plus the following:

• Cell phones
• Circuit boards
• Computers/Laptops
• External disk drives
• External tape drive
• Gaming systems and accessories
• Hair dryers and styling irons
• Hard drives
• Joy sticks
• Keyboards
• Microphones
• Microwaves
• Modems
• Monitors
• Mouse
• PC cards
• PC speakers
• Printers
• Scanners
• Tablets
• Toasters
• Televisions of any size or age
• Uninterrupted power supply batteries
• USB drives

Led by staff from the Indianapolis Department of Public Works environmental resources management division, this is the third special electronics recycling event offered in 2022. Similar events have engaged more than 600 residents to recycle more than 30 tons of electronics, preventing them from entering the landfill or polluting our neighborhoods and waterways.

Those interested but unable to attend are reminded that they can recycle unwanted electronics on Saturdays at ToxDrop sites across the county. The regular ToxDrop times and locations can be found online here.
