2 DAY OUTLOOK

A stretch of dry weather is expected during the day prior to another round of showers and thunderstorms overnight.

Rain could be heavy times, especially within stronger thunderstorms.

A cold front will move through tomorrow, plummeting temperatures back to below freezing tomorrow night.

SCATTERED SEVERE STORMS ARE POSSIBLE TONIGHT SOUTH

Showers and thunderstorms will develop tonight.

Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible, mainly after midnight and south of Interstate 70.

Damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will be the primary severe threat.

HEAVY RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT

Showers and thunderstorms will develop tonight.

Widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain are expected, with locally higher amounts possible.

The heaviest rainfall is expected between 10 PM through 7 AM.

This rainfall may lead to localized flash flooding, with prolonged or renewed flooding on area rivers likely into next week.

INDIANAPOLIS 7-DAY EXTENDED FORECAST

Today: Mostly sunny, with a steady temperature around 58. West wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 42. Light and variable wind becoming east northeast 6 to 11 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. The chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Monday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 41 by 5pm. West northwest wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. The chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 45. Calm wind becoming west southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 51.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 57.

Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Friday: Showers likely. Partly sunny, with a high near 49. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

Friday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. The chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 32.
