RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS
Showers and thunderstorms are expected across the region today with much cooler weather through Saturday.
Rainfall totals will generally be under an inch, but some heavier amounts are possible within stronger thunderstorms.
SEVERE STORMS ARE POSSIBLE FRIDAY
Widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected Friday.
A few storms may be strong to severe Friday evening in the 5-10 PM time frame, mainly from I-70 south.
Damaging winds, a tornado or two, and lightning are the primary threats, with isolated large hail and a few heavy downpours possible.
INDIANAPOLIS 7-DAY EXTENDED FORECAST
Today: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 5pm. High near 67. Southeast wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5am. Cloudy, with a low around 44. South southeast wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday: Showers. Temperature falling to around 45 by 2pm. West wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch possible.
Saturday Night: Showers likely before 8pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 37. West wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are possible.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 62. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 42.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71.
Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48.
Tuesday: Showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 59. The chance of precipitation is 60%.
