RAIN TRANSITIONS TO SLEET AND ICE THEN TO SNOW
Moderate to heavy rain will transition to a wintry mix and then snow across central Indiana later today from northwest to southeast.
Total snowfall amounts across far northwest areas will be 3-6 inches, with less than a tenth inch of ice.
Accumulations will quickly drop off with a southeastern extent.
FLOOD WATCH TODAY
A Flood Watch remains in effect across central Indiana today, with 1.5-2.5″ of rain expected.
This may cause flooding of low-lying areas, and will likely cause minor to moderate flooding to develop along area waterways later today and beyond.
ACCUMULATING SNOW NORTHWEST
Winter Weather headlines are in effect from noon to midnight today for northwestern portions of central Indiana.
Snowfall of up to 3-6 inches with less than a tenth inch of ice will be possible in the warned area, with lesser amounts SE.
INDIANAPOLIS 7-DAY EXTENDED FORECAST
Today: Showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Temperature falling to around 39 by 5pm. South southwest wind 7 to 16 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph. The chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Tonight: Rain showers, snow showers and sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain before midnight, then a chance of snow showers between midnight and 3am. Low around 15. Blustery, with a north wind 14 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no ice accumulation is expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half-inch possible.
Friday: Mostly cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 31. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow showers after 2am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 18. South southwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Saturday: A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 8am. Sunny, with a high near 28. Northwest wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 20.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 52.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 40.
