January 26, 2022, Indianapolis Weather Forecast

January 26, 2022 by Naptown Buzz

After a frigid morning, temperatures will rise into the teens to low 20s today before dropping back into the single digits tonight.

Light snow is possible tomorrow morning with the best chances across south-central Indiana.

Low single-digit temperatures then return Friday night.

WIND CHILL ADVISORY

A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect for points near and north of I-74 until 11 AM.

Temperatures have already dropped below freezing in spots with temperatures still dropping.

Sub-zero wind chills to end by 1 PM.

Limit your time outdoors if possible as frostbite can occur in as little as 30 minutes.

Wind chills have dropped below -10° across much of central Indiana.

Be sure to bundle up if you’re heading outdoors this morning!

COLD WEATHER PRECAUTIONS

Sustained winds up to about 10 mph, with occasional higher readings, along with very cold air are causing frostbite and hypothermia concerns tonight and Wednesday morning.

Wind chill readings of 20 below zero can cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes.

Protect yourself and your pets by minimizing time spent outdoors to the greatest extent possible.

If you and/or your pet need to go outside try to shelter from the wind, seek a heat source, protect exposed flesh, dress in layers and drink warm beverages.

Air temperatures will dip from 5° below zero to 8° above zero; wind chills as cold as 5 below zero south to near 20° below north are expected…coldest near sunrise.
