Indianapolis Weather Forecast for August 26, 2021

High heat and possible storms are expected through the rest of the week.

INDIANA HEAT ADVISORY NOON – 8 PM

Hot conditions are expected this afternoon. Take proper precautions if working or spending extended time outdoors today.

  • WHAT…Heat index values between 100 and 105 are expected.
  • WHERE…Portions of central, east-central, north-central, south-central, southeast, southwest, and west-central Indiana.
  • WHEN…From noon today to 8 PM EDT this evening.
  • IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.

HEAT ADVISORY PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

  • Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
  • Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
  • Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
  • When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
  • Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
  • Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.
  • To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
  • Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
  • Heatstroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

INDIANAPOLIS 7-DAY EXTENDED FORECAST

Today: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3pm. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 92. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. South wind 3 to 6 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3pm. Sunny and hot, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning.

Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 74.

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3pm. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 91.

Sunday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. High near 87. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 9pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9pm. Low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 84.

Tuesday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 85.
