A heat advisory is in effect from 2-8 PM today.
Peak afternoon heat index values Today through Thursday will be as high as 100 to 105 degrees across much of central Indiana. This can cause heat illness with prolonged exposure. Heat illness can overtake you quickly.
Take steps to limit your time outside during the heat of the day this week. Dress in light-colored clothing, drink plenty of water and do not forget to check on those especially vulnerable to heat illness, including young children, the elderly, and those with chronic medical conditions, or those without access to air conditioning. Finally, keep a close watch on pets and ensure they have access to a cool area and plenty of water.
