INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrested 27-year old P.L. Gage in connection with the tragic death of a 9-year old child on June 26, 2017.

P.L. Gage turned himself into the Violent Crimes Unit Homicide detectives arrested the suspect on preliminary charges of Neglect of a Dependent resulting in death and Neglect of a Dependent which places dependent in a situation that endangers the dependent.

The suspect was taken to the Arrestee Processing Center to be processed. Marion County Prosecutors office will review and make final charging decisions.

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives continue to investigate after a child was fatally shot on the city’s north side.

On Monday, June 26, 2017, just before 10:00 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 7100 block of Warrior Trail reference a person shot. When officers arrived they were informed that a 9-year-old child had been shot and had been transported to a nearby hospital in a vehicle. The child died when he arrived at the hospital.

Detectives were informed that the child and his friend were playing with a firearm when it accidentally discharged striking the child in the face. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency processed the crime scene for possible forensic evidence. The decedent’s names will be available through the Marion County Coroner’s Office once proper next-of-kin notification has been made. This investigation is ongoing and no further details will be provided at this time. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a final changing decision.
