Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a possible drowning that occurred Friday afternoon at Eagle Creek Reservoir in northwest Marion County.

Friday afternoon at approximately 4:43 p.m., authorities were dispatched to 4000 block of Dandy Trail for a person in the water. Multiple witnesses observed a Hispanic male go under the surface of the water and not re-surface.

Divers with the Indianapolis Fire Department deployed and were able to recover the victim at 5:23 p.m. The victim was then transported to IU Methodist Hospital.

Despite the quick response and recovery, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 5:53 p.m. The victim has been identified as Miguel A. Perez-Murillo, 34, of Indianapolis. The family has been notified and have made a positive identification.

The investigation is underway into the events leading up to and the reason for Perez-Murillo to end up in the water.

An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow morning to determine the cause of death.

Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted on the scene by IFD, IMPD and Pike Township Fire Department.
