Jeanine Wallace, age 66, of Hammond, Killed in Indiana Toll Road Crash

July 6, 2017 by Naptown Buzz

LaPorte County – Last night, around 11:00 PM, the Indiana State Police investigated a two-vehicle crash on the Indiana Toll Road, near the 52 mile marker eastbound. This is three miles east of the LaPorte exit.

Preliminary investigation shows that a 2005 Peterbilt semi driven by Arthur Grimm, age 67, of Arvada, CO, was in the left lane passing a slower semi travelling in the right lane when a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Jeanine Wallace, age 66, of Hammond, IN, attempted to pass in the right lane, cutting in front of Grimm.

Wallace then lost control of her vehicle and was then struck by the Peterbilt. Her vehicle then struck a guardrail and went airborne before striking a bridge abutment and coming to a final rest on the right shoulder of the eastbound lanes.

Wallace suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the LaPorte County Coroner. There were no other injuries in the crash.

This investigation is ongoing by Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionists.

Family members of Grimm have been notified.
