June 8, 2017 by Naptown Buzz

Indiana State Police sent this bulletin at 06/08/2017 11:11 AM EDT

Lake County – A sleepy truck driver rolled his loaded flatbed semi when he came off a ramp too fast causing him and his passenger to go the hospital.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Nate Wolfe revealed at approximately 7:42 a.m., this Thursday, June 08, 2017, morning a 2012 Kenworth pulling a flatbed trailer, owned by Keldex Express out of Atlanta, Georgia, and driven by Robert E. Myles, 56 of Atlanta, Georgia, was northbound on I-65 when Myles felt tired and decided to exit to the 240 mile marker ramp (Lowell exit). Myles took the ramp too fast and caused his semi loaded with 10 coils of wire to shift and rolled his truck.

Myles, his passenger (co-driver/wife) Tyra L Myles, 41, who was asleep in the sleeper were pinned inside. Myles was able to get himself and their puppy out of the tractor after they broke out the windshield. Tyra was able to climb out the sunroof in the sleeper.

Myles and Tyra both went to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point with non-life threatening injuries. Their puppy was not injured.

Myles was cited for Speed too Fast. The right lane is closed for up-righting of the semi/trailer and clean-up of the oil/diesel fuel that was leaked from the rollover. Hazardous Material people are on the scene.

Assisting: ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, Lake County Sheriff, Lowell Fire and EMS, and Cheever’s Towing
