Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a boating accident that resulted in an adult female being seriously injured. The incident occurred on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at around 3:30 p.m.

Megan Schlade, 37, of North Carolina received on-scene medical treatment to stabilize an injury to her lower extremity. She was then air-lifted to University of Cincinnati for further treatment.

Officers responded to the Garr Hill Boat Ramp after bystanders reported a female had been struck by the propeller of a boat.

Franklin County EMS and Franklin County Fire Department arrived on scene and were able to stabilize the injury.

Martin Simple was the operator of the boat. When he placed the watercraft in reverse, the propeller collided with Megan’s lower extremity.

Megan was removed from the water immediately and transported to the Garr Hill Boat Ramp for medical treatment.

No foul play is suspected and an investigation is still being conducted at this time.

Alcohol and drugs are not a factor in the accident.
