Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Southwest District officers apprehend suspected carjackers after finding them at a nearby gas station.

June 1, 2017, just after 2:00 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Southwest District were sent to the 200 block of South Warman Avenue on the report of carjacking resulting in injury. Officers quickly arrived and found the victim 26-year-old Shane Gebhart on the front porch of a house bleeding. The victim was suffering from lacerations to his face and was covered in blood.

The victim told officers that the suspect 34-year-old DeWayne Sisk and 24-year-old Rachel Brickley was sitting with him in the alley of 200 South Warman Avenue when suspect DeWayne Sisk starting hitting the victim with the butt of a handgun causing the before mentioned injuries. The victim jumped out of his vehicle and ran to the house where officers found him.

Responding officers broadcast a description of the victim’s vehicle and suspects. IMPD Officer Cook found the vehicle at nearby Marathon gas station in the 3400 block of West Morris Street with a male matching the suspect’s description sitting inside the vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle and verified the vehicle’s license plate. Officers Cook and King also found the female suspect inside the gas station buying a drink. Officers quickly detained both suspects without incident.

After being questioned by detectives both suspects were arrested for robbery and transported by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to the Aressetee Processing Center for processing.
