Two juveniles, 16 & 17, apprehended after armed robbery

May 24, 2017 by Naptown Buzz

Wednesday, May 24, 2017, 5:52 PM

Just after 8 a.m. on May 24, 2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the Family Dollar located in the 2100 block of Mitthoefer Rd on reports of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Responding officers were given a description of two suspects, one of which was allegedly armed.

Officers, using their knowledge of the area, responded to a likely escape route for the suspects. A K-9 Officer observed males matching the suspect descriptions, walking in the area of 2100 Shoreland Dr. The suspects were apprehended without incident and allegedly had possession of evidence connecting them to the robbery. Given that the suspects were juveniles, their names will not be released, however, they were identified as being a 16-year-old male and 17-year-old male.

Both suspects were later transported to the Juvenile Detention Center for processing. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a final charging decision. The quick actions by responding officers and the thorough follow-up investigation conducted by Robbery Detectives further demonstrates their commitment to the City of Indianapolis. Together, we can make Indianapolis a safer place to live, work, and play!
