Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Hit-and-Run detectives investigate after a vehicle struck and killed a 90–year-old elderly female pedestrian in the 2400 block of North Illinois Street yesterday evening May 13, 2017, just before 10:00 p.m.

Detectives believe that a vehicle heading north on Illinois Street struck the female pedestrian and initially fled the scene. The female who has been identified by investigators, but it is not yet known if the victim’s next-of-kin has been successfully notified, was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel. Detectives were notified a short time later that a possible suspect vehicle had been located and that the driver identified as 47-year-old Maurice Webster was walking back to the scene. Upon the suspect’s arrival back at the scene, it was determined that he was the driver of the deadly hit-and-run crash and he was arrested on a preliminary criminal charge of leaving the scene of an accident causing a fatality. The suspect was transported to the Arrestee Processing Center where he is currently being held.

There is no current booking photo of the suspect at this time, once it becomes available it will be released sometime later today. If additional information becomes available this release may be updated.
