Jeffrey Adams, 57, Arrested for Bootlegging

May 25, 2017 by Naptown Buzz

Just after 12:30 p.m. on May 21, 2017, Sergeant Westrick and Officer Chapman of IMPD Northwest District, assisted Sergeant Bill Carter with IMPD Nuisance Abatement and officers of the Indiana Department of Excise during a bootlegging investigation in the 1400 block of W 25th St. Upon arrival, they detained a number of individuals and located a large amount of alcohol. During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect had allegedly sold alcoholic beverages without proper permits. A warrant was obtained and a search was executed. During the search, three handguns were seized (Sig Sauer .380, Taurus 9mm, and a Taurus “The Judge” 000 Buck revolver), along with thousands of dollars of alcohol.

The suspect, 57-year-old Jeffrey Adams, was arrested on preliminarily charged with selling alcohol without a permit, selling alcohol at unlawful times, and failure to register as a retail merchant. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a charging decision. Adams was later transported to the Arrestee Processing Center for booking.

This is another testament to the efforts of the IMPD in addressing incoming complaints from the community. The IMPD Nuisance Abatement Unit works tirelessly to address nuisance issues and to improve the quality of life for all neighborhoods. The IMPD could not do it without your ongoing support and the partnerships with our Law Enforcement partners at the Indiana State Excise Police. Thank you!
