TRIBE NOTES

A TRIO OF DINGERS: Hutchison became the first Tribe pitcher to allow three home runs in a game since Justin Masterson gave up three over 4.2 innings in an 8-7, 12-inning loss @ Gwinnett on June 21, 2016. Kelvin Marte was the only other Indians pitcher to give up three homers in a game last season, doing so on May 25 @ Rochester.

WALKS > STRIKEOUTS: The Indians worked eight walks at the plate last night, including six over the first 2.2 innings against IronPigs starter Mark Appel. The eight free passes drawn tied for the second-highest total by Tribe batters in a game this season. Indians hitters also struck out just six times, marking the sixth occurrence this year where they walked more than they struck out in a single contest. With the loss, Indy is now 4-2 when its lineup draws more walks than times striking out.

MIGHT AS WELL SPELL IT WITH A K: Clay Holmes has been a strikeout machine on the mound this year for Indy, racking up seven or more punchouts in three consecutive starts and five of his last six. After beginning the season 0-1 with an 11.57 ERA (6 ER in 4.2 IP) through his first two Triple-A starts, Holmes has gone 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA (7 ER in 33.1 IP) in his last six outings. He has accumulated 40 strikeouts during the stretch, the most in a six-start span in his career. His 10.42 SO/9.0 IP ratio ranks fourth among qualifying starters in the IL.

JASON MAY: Jason Rogers is batting .338 (27-for-80) with four doubles, two home runs and 14 RBI in 20 games in the month of May. By comparison, he hit just .217 (15-for-69) with four home runs and eight RBI over 20 games in April.
