TRIBE NOTES

FLIRTING WITH .300: The Indians are hitting .299 (212-for-708) as a team for the month. With eight games left in May, the Tribe could have their highest monthly batting average since May 2015, when they hit .291 (287-for-985). The Indians finished that month of May with an 18-11 record.

RUNNING WILD: The Indians are tied for fourth in the IL with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in stolen bases with 36. At this point last season, the Tribe also had 36 stolen bases, however they were caught stealing 33 times. Indy base stealers in 2017 have only been caught 14 times.

DOUBLE-TIME: The Indians ripped four doubles in yesterday’s game, the fifth time this season the Tribe registered four doubles in a single contest. Their 82 doubles as a team are tied for third-best in the International League with Durham. The Indians have hit 46 doubles in the month of May which is second to only Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s 50. Meadows is the team leader in the category for the month with seven, while Christopher Bostick and Phil Gosselin are tied for second with six each.

A DIFFERENT APPROACH: After a slow start to the season, Indy’s offense has improved, in large part because of its disciplined approach at the plate. In 22 games in the month of April, the Tribe offense averaged 2.8 walks (61) and 8.3 strikeouts per contest (182). In 21 games in the month of May, however, the offense has averaged 3.4 walks (72) and 6.6 punchouts (139) per affair.
