TRIBE NOTES

SEVEN UP: The Indians have reeled off seven consecutive wins for the first time since June 5-11, 2015. Indy started that streak by winning the final three games of a four-game set at Lehigh Valley, then went on to win all three games of a series at Rochester before returning home to win the first game of a four-game series against Gwinnett.

NOT A SOFT 17: The Indians are 17-4 over their last 21 games, the best mark in professional baseball. Lehigh Valley, Indy’s next opponent, has the second-best record over its last 21 games at 16-5.

HERE’S WHY WE’RE COOKIN’: The Tribe have scored five or more runs in 15 of their last 21 contests, going 14-1 in those games. The Indians are 3-3 when scoring four or less in their last 21 games as well. While the offense has been potent, Indy’s pitching has held its own on the mound, posting a collective 2.88 ERA (59 ER in 184.1 IP) since April 29, when Indy’s 17-4 stretch began.

COME WHAT MAY: The Indians are 16-3 in the month of May with 10 games remaining before the calendar flips to June. In 2016, the Indians had one month where they won 16-plus games (June: 17-13). If the Indians can win at least four of their last 10 games, the Tribe will reach the 20-win mark in a single month for the seventh time since the beginning of the 1996 campaign. The last time an Indy club won 20 or more games in a single month came in April 2013 when they went 20-7.

KID IN THE CLUTCH: Austin Meadows delivered another clutch knock for the Tribe last night, turning a 5-4 deficit into a 6-5 lead with a two-out, two-run double in the seventh. In the series finale Thursday at Columbus, Meadows belted a three-run home run in the eighth inning, helping Indy dig out from a 2-0 hole en route to a 4-2 victory. Last Sunday in the homestand finale against Norfolk, Meadows hit a bases-loaded walk-off single in the 11th inning to give the Tribe a 5-4 win.
