TRIBE NOTES

WE’LL TAKE A HALF-DOZEN: The Indians are currently riding a six-game winning streak, complemented by back-to-back series sweeps of Columbus and Charlotte before last night’s victory over Norfolk. Last year, the Tribe’s longest winning streak was five games, a stretch that began with two wins vs. Syracuse and three more gainst Pawtucket, all at Victory Field from June 11-16. Indy’s six-game winning streak is its longest since the Tribe reeled off seven consecutive wins from June 5-11, 2015.

GOSS IS BOSS: After going 0-for-6 through his first two games with the Tribe, infielder Phil Gosselin drilled a pair of doubles in yesterday’s game. He became the fourth Tribe player this season to collect two doubles in a single game, joining Christopher Bostick, Gift Ngoepe and Jose Osuna.

ELIAS’ HITTING BUREAU: Tribe catcher Elias Diaz went 2-for-4 last night, extending his hitting streak to a season-best seven games. During the stretch, he’s batting .444 (12-for-27) with a double, home run, seven RBI and one run scored. If he had enough at-bats to qualify among International League leaders, he’d rank seventh in batting and have the second-highest average among IL catchers, trailing only Lehigh Valley’s Jorge Alfaro (.333).

BIRTHDAY BASH: Celebrating his 25th birthday yesterday, Anderson Feliz had quite a day. He was one of six Tribe players (Steven Brault, Elias Diaz, Dan Runzler, Tyler Eppler and Eric Wood Wood) to ride along in a two-seater with the Andretti’s at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Feeling the adrenaline rush, Feliz then went 2-for-4 with three RBI at the plate last night, including a bases-clearing single during Indy’s five-run first. He committed two errors defensively, but made up for it with a Derek Jeter-esque play in the hole at short for the second out in the ninth inning.
