TRIBE NOTES

FRAZIER ON A REHAB: Pirates utilityman Adam Frazier joined Indy on a rehab assignment last night as he recovers from a left hamstring strain. Frazier was off to a solid start this season in Pittsburgh, batting .306 (15-for-49) with two doubles, one triple, one home run and five RBI in 15 games. Last year, he hit .333 (87-for-261) with 16 doubles, four triples and 22 RBI in 68 games for Indy. He also successfully swiped 17 out of 32 stolen base attempts. He finished 1-for-3 with an RBI double and walk in last night’s victory.

HUTCH IN THE CLUTCH: Tribe starter Drew Hutchison delivered his best start of the 2017 season last night with 6.2 innings of one-run ball. He scattered four hits and four walks with six strikeouts, and most importantly, settled in after a 28-pitch first inning to eat up some much-needed innings for skipper Andy Barkett. He allowed just three men to reach from the second through the sixth, before departing with two on and two outs in the seventh.

STEADY EDDIE: Edgar Santana has been lights out at the back of Indy’s bullpen. He tossed two more scoreless innings last night to convert his fourth save in as many tries, all while pushing his scoreless innings streak to 13.2 frames over his previous 10 appearances. The 25-year-old has surrendered just two runs (one earned) in 17.1 innings pitched this season.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE: After a slow start to the season, Indy’s offense has improved, in large part because of its disciplined approach at the plate. In 22 games in the month of April, the Tribe offense averaged 2.8 walks (61 BB) and 8.3 strikeouts per contest (182). Over five games in the month of May, however, the offense has averaged 3.6 walks (18) and 5.4 punchouts (27) per affair.
