The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) and Chief Bryan Roach are pleased to announce the graduation of the IMPD 13th Recruit Class. These 26 Probationary officers are out and ready to serve the great City of Indianapolis!

“I want to be the first to congratulate the men and women of the 13th recruit class of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department,” said Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett. “Under the leadership of Chief Bryan Roach, I know these officers will serve their community honorably, keeping neighborhoods safe and making sure that our police force continues to be a model for others across the country.”

Chief Bryan Roach stated, “We congratulate the 13th recruit class for completing their formal training successfully. We look forward to their added community service.”

The 26 graduating members of the 13th IMPD recruit class were sworn-in on June 6, 2016. These officers have been assigned to the Training Division for the past 47 weeks. The recruit training curriculum consists of 1,048 hours of classroom and scenario based training and 20 weeks of on-the-job training in the Field Training Program.

Of the 26 graduating, there are three females and 23 males which breaks down as follows: 17 white males, 2 Hispanic males, 3 African American males, and 1 Asian male. All three females are African American. This class represents IMPD’s continued effort in hiring a more diverse workforce.

Upon their graduation from the Academy, the officers will be re-assigned to the Operations Division; where they will begin patrolling the neighborhoods of Indianapolis. Please join us in congratulating the 13th Recruit Class, soon to be serving a neighborhood near you!
