Just after 3:30 a.m. May 11, 2017, officers working off-duty employment at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital when they were notified a person shot brought into the emergency room by a female friend. The 27-year-old female victim was in critical condition when she arrived at the hospital and was tragically pronounced dead. After next-of-kin has been notified and after the victim has been positively identified the victim’s name can be obtained from the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

Officers obtained lead information that the shooting incident occurred at a house in the 1400 block of Hamilton Ave. When officers arrived around 5:00 a.m., they found undisclosed evidence that led them to believe that an armed individual may be hiding inside the house, so they requested the assistance of IMPD Crisis Negotiators and Tactical Officers. After several hours and unsuccessfully making contact with anyone a valid search warrant was obtained, and SWAT officers made a dynamic entry into the residence. Once inside the house, which is double, SWAT officers did not find anyone inside, however, a crime scene was located.

Detectives are canvassing the area for additional information, and the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency is processing the crime scene for additional information. Detectives are following up on several promising leads to include persons of interest but have not yet made any additional information on other people involved. When additional information becomes available this release may be updated. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or (TIPS). You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000 if the information leads to a felony arrest.
