US Coast Guard medevacs man, 41, from cruise ship Carnival Magic

MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevacked at 41-year-old man Friday from the cruise ship Carnival Magic approximately 100 miles southwest of Key West.

Watch standers with the Seventh Coast Guard District Command Center received a call from the cruise ship stating one of their passengers was suffering chest pains and needed to be medevacked. The watch standers directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to assist.

The cruise ship Carnival Magic steams through waters approximately 100 miles southwest of Key West Friday, April 21, 2017, while a Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew prepares to medevac a 41-year-old man who reportedly suffered symptoms of a heart attack. The helicopter crew brought the man to the Miami-based air station where emergency medical services were standing by to bring the patient to Jackson Memorial Hospital for further medical treatment. The helicopter crew hoisted the patient, took him to the air station to awaiting EMS personnel and transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
