Indianapolis Indians at Pawtucket Red Sox Postponed Again, Double Header Makeup in Indy

April 26, 2017 by Naptown Buzz

Wednesday’s scheduled International League game between the host Pawtucket Red Sox and the Indianapolis Indians at McCoy Stadium has been postponed due to rain, wet field conditions, and poor drainage at McCoy Stadium.

The PawSox and Indians will play a single-admission make-up doubleheader tomorrow (Thursday) at 12:05 pm at McCoy (two 7-inning games). Tonight’s washout will have to be made-up as part of a doubleheader when the PawSox play at Indianapolis from July 28-30 (tomorrow will by Indy’s final regular-season visit to Pawtucket).

The consecutive rainouts at McCoy Stadium are a first for the PawSox since April 17-18, 2007, when back-to-back affairs against Rochester were postponed. Indianapolis last had consecutive games postponed from April 7-9, 2016, when its season opener was pushed back three straight days due to inclement weather at Columbus.

The Indians will send right-hander Clay Holmes (0-1, 5.06) to the bump for game one tomorrow, and he’ll be opposed by PawSox lefty Brian Johnson (0-0, 1.69). Game two will feature Tribe righty Tyler Eppler (2-0, 1.06) against right-hander Shawn Haviland (2-1, 3.38). Both games can be heard on Fox Sports 97.5 and AM 1260.
