TRIBE NOTES

EPPLER IN COMMAND: Tribe right-hander Tyler Eppler has been excellent out of the gate this season, throwing a combined 11.0 scoreless innings in the first two Triple-A starts of his career. Eppler’s scoreless streak to begin the season is the longest by an Indianapolis starter since left-hander Andy Oliver opened the 2013 campaign with 14.1 scoreless frames.

SKID SNAPPED: The Indians avoided a sixth straight loss with their 5-1 win yesterday at Toledo. Indianapolis lost six consecutive games one time in 2016, a stretch that ran from Aug. 20-25. They also had two separate five-game losing streaks (July 16-20, Aug. 6-10) last season.

ON THE ROAD: The Tribe’s 5-1 victory last night was just their fourth win in their first road game of the season (4-9) dating back to the 2005 season. After joining the International League in 1998, the Indians went 6-1 in their first road game of the season from 1998-2004, including a six-game win streak from 1999-2004. Overall since 1998, Indy is 10-10 in road openers.
