TRIBE NOTES

POWER OUT OF THE GATE: Moroff became the first Indians player to hit a home run in the first two games of a season since Pedro Alvarez mashed three total homers thru the first two games of Indianapolis’ 2010 season.

CONSECUTIVE GAMES WITH A HOME RUN: For the third time in his career, Moroff has homered in consecutive games. He did so last season with Indy on June 26 vs. Buffalo and June 27 vs. Gwinnett. He also accomplished the feat in 2015 with Double-A Altoona when he homered on Aug. 8 and 9 vs. Richmond. He has never homered in three straight contests.

A DIFFERENT SCRIPT WHEN TRAILING AFTER SIX: In 2016, the Indians had a 4-50 record when trailing after six full innings. This year, Indianapolis owns a 2-0 record in those situations, thanks to its pair of come-from-behind victories to begin the season.

2-AND-0: The Tribe are off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2014 when they began the season 5-0. Since rejoining the International League in 1998 (20 seasons), the Indians have started the season 2-0 or better nine times. The full list of years and records before losing are below:

  • 1998: 2-0
  • 1999: 4-0
  • 2000: 5-0
  • 2001: 3-0
  • 2004: 3-0
  • 2005: 4-0
  • 2007: 2-0
  • 2014: 5-0
  • 2017: 2-0
