TRIBE NOTES

IT HAD BEEN AWHILE: Indianapolis was shut out in each of its last two season openers prior to last night’s 7-4 triumph. The Indians hadn’t scored on Opening Day since April 4, 2014, when they won 2-1 at Columbus in 10 innings.

IT HAD BEEN AWHILER: Ngoepe’s second-inning home run was the first hit by a Tribe player at Victory Field on Opening Day since Andy Phillips homered against Toledo on April 9, 2009.

LET’S BAT AROUND: Last season, the Indians sent 10-plus batters to the plate in a single inning on seven occasions. Last night, they brought 10 men to the plate during a five-run seventh, turning a one-run deficit into a four-run advantage.

TEAM CYCLE: Bike to the Ballpark took place last night, courtesy of Sun King Brewing Co. The Indians joined in on the fun when they hit for the cycle as a team during their five-run seventh inning. Jason Rogers and Moroff both homered, sandwiching a triple by Christopher Bostick. Jose Osuna and Elias Diaz then roped consecutive doubles later in the inning, ahead of a single by Danny Ortiz.
