TRIBE NOTES

J-ROGERS ZONIN’: Jason Rogers pushed his hitting streak to seven games with his 1-for-3 performance yesterday afternoon. During the stretch, he’s batting .417 (10-for-24) with two homers, one triple and five RBI. He’s walked three times and struck out just four times as well during the run.

A TALE OF TWO STARTS: Clay Holmes, coming off one of his worst starts in his professional career, delivered one of his best yesterday in Indianapolis’ 4-1 loss to Durham. Holmes threw six shutout innings, allowing five hits and one walk with a season-high seven strikeouts. The outing was the longest of the season for Holmes, and it marked the fourth start in 76 career starts where he threw exactly six shutout innings. In his previous start on April 14 @ Toledo, Holmes failed to get through the first inning for the first time in his career, as he walked three batters and allowed two hits en route to a two-run first inning for the Mud Hens. He recorded just two outs in Indy’s eventual 4-3 loss.

ABOUT THOSE BLOWN LEADS: Indianapolis has a league-high four blown saves through the first two weeks of the season. They are one of two teams in professional baseball (also: Texas Rangers) to have four losses when holding a lead after six innings of play.

HERE’S WHAT’S TRENDING: A few early-season trends for the Tribe thus far have been telling in the win-loss column. When the Indians score three runs or less, they are 0-6. By comparison, they are 4-4 when scoring four-plus runs. The Indians are 0-6 when going without a home run at the plate, and they’re 4-4 when a player hits a long ball.
