49-year-old Brian Harris Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver on N. Arlington Ave.

Hit-and-Run detectives have finalized a vehicle description wanted from last night’s (3/31/17) fatal hit and run crash.

Detectives believe that a tan/beige/gold colored 2007-2012 Nissan Sentra with front area bumper damage, as well as undercarriage damage, is the suspect vehicle. After striking the victim the suspect vehicle is thought to have continued south on Arlington Avenue and then west onto 38th Street.

Detective urge anyone that knows the whereabouts of a vehicle matching this description to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477. Information shared via Crime Stoppers should be considered anonymous.

Detectives have clarified the suspect vehicle to not be specifically a tan colored Chevrolet Cruze but instead the suspect vehicle could be a tan, beige or champagne colored 4-door vehicle. The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Brian Harris of Indianapolis. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317)262-TIPS (8477). All tips given via Crime Stoppers are considered anonymous.

Just after 11:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 3900 block of North Arlington Avenue reference a pedestrian who was struck by a car that fled the scene.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive 49-year-old man lying in the street. EMS personnel arrived and tragically pronounced the man dead at the scene. The victim’s name is not being made public, pending notification to the next-of-kin.

Witnesses told officers that a tan Chevrolet Cruz struck the victim as he was walking on N. Arlington Ave. The suspect vehicle is also reported to have front passenger side damage, and according to witnesses, fled south on Arlington Ave. and then west on 38th St

Hit-and-Run Investigators are asking anyone with information about a tan Chevy Cruz with front passenger side damage to call the police by dialing 9-1-1. Callers can also call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or (TIPS). You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000 if the information leads to a felony arrest.
