IMPD & U.S. Postal Inspector Serve Search Warrant, Nets Narcotics, Cash & Handguns

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Interdiction Section assisted U.S. Postal Inspector with a narcotics search warrant that nets considerable amount of narcotics, cash, and four handguns.

Just after 11 a.m. on 03/03/2017, detectives with the IMPD Interdiction Section met with U.S. Postal Inspectors to conduct a knock and talk investigation in the 4000 block of Pittman Place. While approaching this location, detectives could smell the odor of raw and burned marijuana. Detectives and the Inspector made contact with home owner. The Inspector had a parcel that was addressed to the home owner, this parcel had a positive canine hit on it for the presence of narcotics. With the homeowners consent the Postal Inspector opened the box and found a vacuum sealed package of suspected marijuana.

After obtaining consent to search and a search warrant for other areas of the residence, the following items were located:

  • Approximately 8oz of suspected cocaine
  • Over 100 scheduled narcotic pills
  • Suspected psychotropic mushrooms
  • Approximately 10lbs of suspected marijuana
  • 4 handguns
  • $22,372 in cash

No arrests were made as of yet with the investigation ongoing. All items were seized and transported to the IMPD Property Section to be placed into evidence. This is another testament to the importance of collaboration with our law enforcement partners to best serve the community at large. Thank you to our partners with the U.S. Postal Inspectors Office for their diligence and continuing to invite the IMPD to assist in investigations that affect the City of Indianapolis.

IMPD is grateful for the community’s efforts and requests that anyone with information about narcotics or illegal activities, to immediately contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317)262-TIPS (8477). Tips given via Crime Stoppers should be considered anonymous.
