Domestic Violence Report Leads to Narcotics Bust

March 5, 2017 by Naptown Buzz

Sunday, March 5, 2017, 8:12 PM

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were investigating a report of domestic violence when they discovered narcotics and handguns.

Just before 8 a.m. on 03/03/2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the area of 71st and Michigan Rd and later led to the 2900 block of Hazelview Ln on reports of domestic violence. Due to a significant amount of suspected narcotics being located in an involved vehicle at 71st and Michigan, officers requested the assistance of Northwest District Narcotics detectives, who responded to the scene. Domestic Violence also responded to the scene for the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, the following items were located (weights are approximate):

  • 14 grams of suspected crack cocaine
  • 11 grams of suspected heroin
  • 16 grams of an unknown powder (possibly fentanyl)
  • 7 grams of marijuana
  • A hand written ledger
  • 2 cell phones
  • 2 firearms (seized by domestic violence detective at the residence)
  • $1,730 in cash

34-year-old Jeffrey Armstrong was arrested and preliminarily charged with domestic battery, dealing narcotics, dealing controlled substance, and possession of narcotics. Armstrong was later transported to the Arrestee Processing Center for booking. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a final charging decision.

This was a great collaborative effort between the responding officers, Domestic Violence detectives, and Narcotics detectives. IMPD is grateful for the community’s efforts and continued support in identifying suspicious and criminal activity. With your assistance, we can continue to make Indianapolis a safer city in which to work and live.

Remember, anyone with information about criminal activity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or (TIPS). Citizens can also download the mobile P3tips app for Apple or Android phones to submit a mobile tip, or go to www.CrimeTips.org to submit a web tip. You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000 if the information leads to a felony arrest. Only tips submitted directly and anonymously to Crime Stoppers are eligible for these cash rewards.
