Tip Received From Concerned Citizen Leads To A Dozen Arrests

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Chief Bryan Roach received a narcotics tip from a concerned citizen while out in the community; he verified the tip, passed it on to IMPD Narcotics detectives, which then led to over a dozen arrests.

On 02/10/17 at approximately 8 p.m., SWAT, members of Downtown District Narcotics/Vice Unit, members of Downtown Late Shift Bike Unit and patrol officers from East district Middle Shift and Sergeant Bill Carter with the Nuisance Abatement unit, served two valid search warrants simultaneously in the 2900 block of E 10th St and the 600 block of N Oxford St.

Two women were arrested at the Oxford St address for possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance. At the E 10th St location, named “The Candy Store,” there were 12 arrests ranging from visiting/maintaining a common nuisance to dealing cocaine, heroin, marijuana, outstanding warrants.

Seized from the “The Candy Store” were:

  • 5 firearms (1 Stolen)
  • Cocaine
  • Heroin
  • Marijuana
  • Spice
  • Drug Paraphernalia
  • $4,352 in Cash

The following suspects were arrested at the E 10th St location, “The Candy Store”:

  • 19-year-old Nigel Williams
    • Dealing narcotics, possession of narcotics x2, maintaining a common nuisance, unrelated warrant
  • 20-year-old William Humbert
    • Possession of marijuana
  • 31-year-old Chenita Gray
    • Possession of paraphernalia, visiting a common nuisance
  • 41-year-old Lamarcus Isom
    • Possession of marijuana, visiting a common nuisance, unrelated warrant
  • 43-year-old Johnnie Slaughter
    • Outstanding warrant
  • 44-year-old Harry English
    • Outstanding warrant
  • 21-year-old Amise Macintosh
    • Outstanding warrant
  • 44-year-old Monica Smith
    • Outstanding warrant
  • 50-year-old Marcus Williams
    • Outstanding warrant
  • 17-year-old Juvenile male
    • Outstanding juvenile warrant

Suspects located and arrested on Oxford were as follows:

  • 52-year-old Sheila Williams
    • Possession of paraphernalia, visiting a common nuisance
  • 42-year-old Holly Bartlett
    • Possession of paraphernalia, visiting a common nuisance.

All suspects were transported to the Arrestee Processing Center for booking. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a final charging decision.

This was in response to several tips and complaints about “The Candy Store,” including the tip received and verified by Chief Roach. All Officers, Detectives, SWAT members involved did an outstanding job and this is another great example of teamwork with several districts and units involved.
