Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Detectives investigate the death of a 17-year-old on city’s east side.
Just after 6:30 p.m., on Sunday (2/26/17) officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were sent to the 3100 block of East 10th Street reference a person shot. When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old lying outside suffering from obvious signs of apparent gunshot trauma. EMS personnel arrived and, unfortunately, and tragically, pronounced the teen dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) will release the victim’s name once MCCO has confirmed that notification of next-of-kin has taken place.
Detectives believe that the circumstances are suspicious and suspect foul play. Detectives have not yet released any suspect information, but detectives have canvassed the area for any information that may aid them in this investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency is processing the crime scene for forensic evidence, and the MCCO has taken possession of the deceased.
