Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Detectives investigate the death of a man on city’s east side.

Just after 8:30 a.m., on Sunday (2/26/17) officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were sent to the 2200 block of North Spencer Avenue reference a person shot. When officers arrived, they found a man inside a house suffering from obvious signs of apparent gunshot trauma. EMS personnel arrived and, unfortunately, and tragically, pronounced the man dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) will release the victim’s name once MCCO has confirmed that notification of the victim’s next-of-kin has taken place.

Officers were sent to the house after a family member of the victim arrived and found the victim suffering from signs of trauma, the family member called for the police. Detectives believe that the circumstances are suspicious and suspect foul play. Detectives have not yet released any suspect information, but detectives have canvassed the area for any information that may aid them in this investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency is processing the crime scene for forensic evidence, and the MCCO has taken possession of the deceased.

Anyone with information is urged to call lead homicide investigator Detective Benner at 317.327.3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or (TIPS).
