Sunday February 5, 2017, 10:29 AM

Sunday, at approximately 3:50a.m. Trooper Cameron Bottema was investigating a crash with injuries on I-65 northbound near the 115 mile marker. While tending to the injured victim of the crash, Bottema’s patrol car was struck from behind by a red 2006 Infiniti. Fortunately Bottema was not in or near his car when it was struck. The driver of the infiniti, 36 year old Babar Ghori of Indianapolis, was not injured. Preliminary sobriety tests led troopers to believe Ghori was intoxicated, he was arrested and transported to the Marion County Adult Processing Center.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will reveiw the case and determine any formal charges. All suspects are innocent until and unless proven guilty in court. A blood draw to test for blood alcohol content was administered, those results are pending.

The Indiana State Police would like to encourage motorists to report suspected drunk drivers to police.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department assisted us with this investigation and helped with traffic direction.
