Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department  Hit-and-Run detectives investigate the tragic death of 35-year-old female on the city’s south side.

Just 8:00 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were sent to Kentucky Avenue just west of Holt Avenue reference a person struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive female lying in the roadway. EMS personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The female’s name will be released by the Marion County Coroner’s Office after verification of next-of-kin has occurred.

Investigators preliminarily have released that the victim was likely struck twice by two separate vehicles, the first striking vehicle’s driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. However a second unknown vehicle description, after striking the victim, fled the scene going east on Kentucky Avenue. Investigators have not yet released any further information about the circumstances of the crash.

The first and cooperating driver will be subject to a blood draw to test for illegal intoxicants, standard for a crash involving serious injury or death. At this time, it is not known if speed or any other contributing factors led to the crash. Once investigators release additional information, this news release may be updated.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or (TIPS). Citizens can also download the mobile P3tips app for Apple or Android phones to submit a mobile tip, or go to www.CrimeTips.org to submit a web tip. You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000 if the information leads to a felony arrest. Only tips submitted directly and anonymously to Crime Stoppers are eligible for these cash rewards. This release may be updated as more information becomes available.
