Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a 4-month-old baby.

Just after 3:40 p.m. on 02/16/2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the 3700 block of Elmonte Ct on reports of an unresponsive baby. Responding officers located an unresponsive 4-month-old baby and immediately began rendering life-saving efforts. EMS personnel responded and began treating the infant. An IMPD officer volunteered to drive the ambulance so that both medics could tend to the infant. The infant was transported to Community North Hospital where, despite the best life-saving efforts, the infant died.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting possible forensic evidence. The Department of Child Services were notified and responded to the scene to investigate in conjunction with detectives. The infant will be identified after proper next-of-kin notification has been made.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317)262-TIPS(8477). Information given via Crime Stoppers should be considered anonymous. This release may be updated as more information becomes available.
