The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), North District Narcotics, and Flex teams seize a handgun after serving a second search within in a week at a home in the 3200 block of North Ralston Avenue.

On Tuesday (1/24/17), IMPD North District Narcotics/Vice executed a firearm search warrant at the Ralston Ave. address. Detectives had served the first search warrant on Thursday (1/19/17) and arrested 45-year-old Ian Henton and 53-year-old Johnny Collins on several narcotics charges. Detectives also recovered cash, a vehicle and suspected drugs. A link to the original release reference the first search warrant can be found by clicking on the following link, https://local.nixle.com/alert/5830873/

Several days later detectives received specific information that a handgun was located in a secret hiding place inside the house. Specifically, the information revealed that the handgun was located underneath a sofa cushion inside the house. Detectives in consultation with ATF Agents wrote and were eventually approved for a second search warrant for the Ralston Ave location that was executed on 1/25/17. Inside the house, detectives found the handgun underneath the sofa cushion and an additional approximate $200.

In IMPD’s continual and relentless efforts to follow-up, detectives were able to collaborate with our federal law enforcement partners and remove a gun from our streets. IMPD reminds anyone with information regarding narcotics or illegal activity is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 262.TIPS (8477), 800.222.TIPS (8477), or submit an online tip at www.CrimeTips.org.  Information given through Crime Stoppers is considered anonymous.
