A Greenwood Woman Has Died From Injuries Sustained in a Crash on I-65 Last Friday

Troopers from the Indiana State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday January 20th, 2017 on the city’s south side. Just after 8:30 a.m. emergency crews were dispatched to the ramp from I-65 northbound to I-465 eastbound where they found the aftermath of a two vehicle crash. Preliminary investigation led authorities to believe a 2010 Kia Soul, driven by 51 year old Tamara Hacker of Greenwood, rear ended a semi tractor trailer. Ms. Hacker was transported by ambulance to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries three days later. At the time of the crash, investigators believe the semi was traveling appropriate speed to navigate the ramp and was not slowed or stopped. The driver, Gregory Anderson, was not injured.

During the course of the investigation police learned of a possible road rage incident just before this crash. A passenger in the vehicle, along with another eye witness told police Hacker had sped up to elude a black passenger car that was tailgating her. As she sped up, she struck the back of the semi on the ramp. The only description of the other vehicle involved was a black passenger car.

This is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information available at this time.

Investigating Officer: Trooper Shane Cunningham, Indiana State Police
