Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives are investigating after a 14-year-old male was shot and killed on the city’s west side.

Just after 7 p.m. on 01/30/2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the parking lot of Popeye’s Chicken in the 3000 block of W 16th St, on reports of a person shot. Responding officers located an unresponsive juvenile male in the back of the parking lot. EMS personnel responded and rushed the victim to Riley’s Hospital for Children in critical condition. Despite the best life-saving measures, the juvenile victim died.

Homicide detectives responded and canvassed the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The victim’s name will be release once next-of-kin has been notified.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477(TIPS) or 800-222-8477(TIPS).
