Burgerhaus Restaurants Support Baton Rouge in September

September 1, 2016 by Naptown Buzz

Burgerhaus Restaurants are beginning the month of September by donating to relief efforts in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Recent heavy rains in the Baton Rouge area have led to catastrophic flooding, submerging thousands of homes, businesses, schools and healthcare facilities. “The disaster in Louisiana is affecting so many lives, and we wanted to find a way for citizens of Indiana to help”, said Burgerhaus co-owner, Evan Costas.

The relief effort is part of Burgerhaus’ ongoing “Full Belly, Full Heart” program established in 2014. Burgerhaus donates 38 cents for every hamburger sold at its three locations in Indianapolis, Schererville and Valparaiso.  Through July 2016 Burgerhaus has sold more than 246,000 burgers, resulting in donations exceeding $90,000. “Until now, we’ve donated this money entirely to Kids Alive International.  The 38 cents represents the cost of providing a balanced meal for a child living in third world poverty. For the month of September, Burgerhaus will be donating this money to Baton Rouge instead.  Based on past sales, we anticipate donating $8,000 to $9,000 to relief efforts there,” said Costas. The funds for Baton Rouge will be directed to Capital Area United Way for distribution to help the citizens of Baton Rouge recover from the extensive flooding.

Burgerhaus will also feature the “Baton Rouge” as its September ‘burger of the month.’ With a nod toward Louisiana cooking, the burger is seasoned with Cajun seasonings and topped with a Cajun Creole topping of Andouille sausage, shrimp and a spicy remoulade.  This zesty creation is served on a brioche bun with a side of Cajun curly fries. “The burger is a special feature, but we will donate to Baton Rouge with every burger on our menu,” said Costas.

You can find your local Burgerhaus at 3304 Calumet Ave in Valparaiso; 335 West 9th St. in Indianapolis; and 813 West Lincoln Highway in Schererville.
