Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), homicide detectives, are investigating after a man is shot and later dies at the hospital.

Just after 11:30 p.m. yesterday evening, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West 29th Street reference a person shot. When officers arrived they found a 27-year-old man lying in the street suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported by EMS personnel to IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition. Despite the best life-saving efforts by medical personnel at the hospital, the victim, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Detectives have not yet released the victim’s name due to next-of-kin not being notified as of yet.

Homicide detectives have just begun to investigate the circumstances but at this time have not made any suspect information public. The scene was processed, and evidence was collected by the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-8477 or TIPS. Information shared via Crime Stoppers is considered anonymous.
