Victims of deadly shooting on July 19th identified

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives have released the names of the victims involved in a deadly shooting on the city’s east side on July 19th.

Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Robson St, just after midnight on July 19th, 2016, on reports of a suspicious vehicle with possible shots fired. Officers arrived to find a male and female inside the vehicle, that had been shot. EMS personnel responded and pronounced the male victim dead at the scene. The female victim was transported to Eskenazi Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The male victim has been identified as 18-year-old Dayron Staten and the female victim has been identified as 21-year-old Valencia Standberry, both of Indianapolis.

IMPD homicide detectives responded and canvassed the area for witnesses. Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect possible forensic evidence. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.TIPS (8477). Information given via Crime Stoppers is considered anonymous. This release may be updated as more information becomes available.
