Detectives arrest man for first murder of 2016

Detectives have arrested 26-year-old Najee Givens for Murder. The suspect is alleged to have shot and killed 19-year-old Terry Williams on January 4, 2016, in the 6000 blk. of Windsor Drive. The suspect was arrested by the U.S. Marshalls Service in Canton, OH on June 29, 2016, without incident, and extradited back to Indianapolis last week. He is currently being held in the Marion County Jail awaiting his next scheduled court hearing.

Updated: The victim has been identified as 19-year old Terry Williams of Indianapolis. Detectives ask anyone with additional information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).

6000_Windsor_DrINDIANAPOLIS: On January 4, 2016, at approximately 11:03 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of Windsor Drive on a report of a person shot. When officers arrived they discovered an unidentified male subject suffering from at least one gunshot wound. EMS personnel arrived a short time later and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

IMPD Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation and speak with potential witnesses. Several witnesses were transported to the IMPD Homicide office for questioning. The Marion County Forensic Service Agency responded to the scene to begin processing and gathering forensic evidence.

Marion County Coroner will determine a cause and manner of death after an autopsy has been performed. The identity of the deceased will be released after notification has been made. Detectives continue to interview witnesses and gathering pertinent information relative to this case. Detectives ask anyone with additional information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
