2016 Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational Schedule

For the third consecutive year, the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association will visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational, one of the nation’s largest vintage racing festivals featuring four days of action with cars of all types. Vintage Indy cars, Formula One cars, stock cars and more will run on the famed 2.5-mile oval and the 2.439-mile IMS road course from June 16-19.

Tickets are available at IMS.com and on-site; children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

More details on the event are below:

SCHEDULE: More than 500 cars spanning 11 groups will race virtually non-stop. Gates open at 8 a.m. each day.

Thursday, June 16

8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.: Gates Open
8 a.m.-12:25 p.m.: Group Practice Sessions – road course
12:25 – 1:25 p.m.: Jaguar Hot Laps
1:25-6:15 p.m.: Group Practice Sessions – road course

Friday, June 17

8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.: Gates Open
11:45 a.m.:Group Qualifying Sessions – road course
12:45 – 1:45 p.m.: Group Oval Exhibitions
2 – 2:20 p.m.: Group Qualifying Sessions – road course
2:20 – 2:50 p.m.: Indy Legends Pro-Am Practice
2:50 – 5:50 p.m.: Group Qualifying Sessions – road couse

Saturday, June 18

8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.: Gates Open
8 – 9 a.m.: Group Oval Exhibitions
9:10 – 10:50 a.m.: Group Feature Races – road course
10:50 – 11:50 a.m.: Vintage Enduro Race
11:50 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Car Show Parade Laps
Noon: Indy Legends Pro-Am Driver Introductions
12:15 p.m.: Fan Pit Lane Walk
12:45 p.m.: “National Anthem”
1:00 p.m.: Indy Legends Charity Pro-Am Race
2 – 4:55 p.m.: Group Feature Races – road course
5 p.m.: Motostalgia Car Auction – Pavilion
5 p.m.: SVRA Celebration – Pagoda Plaza
5:10 – 6:10 p.m.: Group Oval Exhibitions

Sunday, June 19

8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.: Gates Open
8 – 9 a.m.: Group Oval Exhibitions
9:20 – 10:50 a.m.: Historic GT / GTP Enduro Race
11 – 11:50 a.m.: Group Features Races – road course
1 – 1:20 p.m.: 100 Anniversary Feature Race

Ribbs.

GRAND MARSHAL: Indianapolis Motor Speedway Historian Donald Davidson will lead a team of race drivers and master mechanics to select the best cars on the grounds for special recognition trophies.

FAN WALK: Before the Pro-Am on Saturday, a fan walk is available on the pit lane – an excellent opportunity to meet drivers up-close and obtain photos and autographs.

ON THE BLOCK: “Motostalgia,” a high-end car auction, will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Al Unser Sr. and Ray Evernham will participate in the Saturday evening Motostalgia Auction of collector cars. Al’s entry is unique in that it is a custom motorcycle made of Indy car and sprint car parts – including wheels from a 1965 Novi.

ENTERTAINMENT: Three Dog Night will play Saturday evening in Pagoda Plaza followed by a spectacular fireworks display. Free to all BVRI ticketholders.

CAMPING: Overnight infield camping for fans will be available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
