Gen Con 2016 Has Record-Breaking Exhibitor Increase

May 5, 2016 by Naptown Buzz

GenCon

Gen Con, North America’s largest and longest-running gaming convention, will feature a record-breaking number of exhibitors for its 2016 convention. Gen Con 2016‘s 518 exhibitors represent a 26% increase from the prior convention year. According to a 2015 estimate by Visit Indy, Gen Con drives more than $67 million in annual economic activity to the city of Indianapolis. Given the substantial increase in exhibitors, Gen Con believes this economic activity will grow substantially in 2016.

“Gen Con’s expansion to Lucas Oil Stadium and throughout downtown Indianapolis has created an opportunity to give more qualified companies an opportunity to exhibit in 2016,” said Scott Elliott, Gen Con’s Vice President of Business Development. “With a growing wait list to exhibit, this opportunity is balanced with also offering another record number of gaming events for attendees. Each Gen Con is its own unique, unforgettable experience, and this year will have more new faces and convention partners than ever before.”

Coinciding with this release, Gen Con has posted its current 2016 Exhibit Hall map at gencon.com. In the coming weeks, Gen Con will announce its plans for 2016 Georgia St. activities including the Sun King Brewery Beer Garden, Hot Box Pizza area, food trucks, outdoor entertainment, and more.

Gen Con 2016 returns to Indianapolis Thursday, August 4 through Sunday, August 7 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Last year, Gen Con set an attendance record with more than 61,000 unique attendees. With attendees from all 50 states, every Canadian province, and more than 54 countries, Gen Con is an international destination for gaming. Badges currently are available at gencon.com.
