At approximately 4:48 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the 3700 block of Hillside Avenue on a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived they located an unidentified male inside of a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. EMS personnel arrived a short time later and pronounced the victim deceased.

Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence from the scene. No suspect(s) have been identified and detectives do not have a motive. However, investigators are using information gathered at the scene and witness information to identify a person(s) of interest. This incident does not appear to be a random act.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine a cause and manner of death after an autopsy has been performed. Detectives urge anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 317|262.TIPS (8477). Callers may also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274627 (CRIMES).
