At approximately 3:30 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were sent to the 1800 block of N. Shortridge Rd. on the report a person had been shot.  When officers arrived they found, lying on the front porch of a duplex, an adult female with at least one gunshot wound.  The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS crews.  The victim’s name will not be released until family members have been appropriately notified.

Detectives quickly gathered information that implicated the victim’s boyfriend as the suspected shooter.  The boyfriend subsequently turned himself into police, with a gun, around 6:15 a.m. at IMPD headquarters.  He has been identified as 40-year-old male.

Detectives preliminarily believe that this incident may have stemmed from a domestic disturbance.  Detective will interview the suspect and provide updates after he has been questioned.
