IMPD: Pedestrian Killed in Apparent Hit & Run Accident

The victim has been positively identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office as Thomas Abell, 27, of Indianapolis. At this time, the investigation is on-going. Investigators continue to encourage anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 262-TIPS (8477).

INITIAL REPORT: June 28, 2015 @ 5:05 AM

On June 28, 2015 at approximately 3:49 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the intersection of Kessler Boulevard East Drive and Crestview Avenue on the city’s northside on a report of a person down. Upon arrival officers located what they believe to be an adult male lying on the street unconscious and unresponsive. The male was pronounced dead at the scene by responding EMS personnel.

Investigators from IMPD’s Hit-and-Run section have been sent to the scene to conduct a criminal investigation into the circumstances.  At the time of this release, no suspect or suspect vehicle has been identified. The victim has not been identified and the name will not be released until positive identification and family notifications are made by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. Once more information becomes available, this release will be updated.  Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS.
